Frequently asked questions

What is Festyle?

Festyle is a mission-driven enterprise that strives to empower women through employment. Our team of skilled home cooks creates fresh and wholesome meal kits, making home cooking easier while fostering a culture of healthy eating.

What is a ready-to-cook meal kit?

Our meal kits come pre-washed, pre-cut, and pre-marinated, so you can prepare a delicious home-cooked meal with minimal effort. They save you time on grocery shopping and ingredient preparation, allowing you to focus on enjoying your meal and spending time with loved ones.

How should I choose a meal plan?

Each meal kit is designed for one serving (rice not included). You can calculate the number of kits you need based on the number of people, days, and meals per day using this formula:
(Number of people × Number of days) × Meals per day
Example 1: (2 people × 3 days) × 1 meal = 6 meal kits
Example 2: (3 people × 2 days) × 2 meals = 12 meal kits

How much food does one meal kit contain?

Our meal kits are designed for single servings, but portion sizes depend on your appetite. For reference, one dish with rice is usually filling for men, while women may find it shareable.

I live alone. Do you offer single-person meal plans?

Yes! If you’re cooking for one, our "weekly 6-meal pack" is a great choice. Opt for a mix of veggie and protein-based options for variety. If you meal prep or eat twice a day, this should last about three days.

How long does a meal kit or ingredient last?

Meal kits are delivered in one batch, so you can eat them at your own pace. We suggest finishing them within 2-3 days, but frozen meats (-18°C) can last up to a week or more.

Can I try just one week before committing?

Sure! You can start with our "Trial Set" to test the flavors and service. If you like it, you can switch to a subscription plan for added convenience.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes! We provide automatic discounts on bulk orders. For example, buying two Trial Sets gets you 5% off, and four sets qualify for an 8% discount. Our subscription plan offers the best savings—up to HK$250 per month!

What’s the difference between the Trial Set and the Subscription Plan?

The Trial Set is a one-time purchase, while the Subscription Plan renews automatically for continuous deliveries.

Do I need to cook the meals myself? Are there cooking instructions?

Yes, our meal kits contain fresh ingredients that require cooking. Each package includes easy-to-follow instructions so you can prepare your meal effortlessly.

How should I store the ingredients? How long do they last?

Frozen meats (-18°C) last 7+ days. Fresh veggies should be stored at 0-4°C and eaten within 2-3 days. Moisture-rich veggies like cucumbers and melons are best consumed quickly.

Do I need to defrost frozen meat stored at -18°C?

Yes. For best results, thaw the meat overnight in the fridge (0-4°C) or submerge the entire sealed package in a bowl of room-temperature water before cooking. Once it softens completely, you can open and cook it. (Do not use warm or hot water.)

Do I need to wash the ingredients after receiving them?

Most of the meat and vegetable packs are ready for cooking and do not require additional washing. However, for cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, we recommend soaking them for 10 minutes before cooking to remove any residual dirt or impurities.

Where do the ingredients come from?

Our ingredients are carefully selected by experienced home cooks and professional chefs. They come from accredited suppliers, including the Vegetable Marketing Organization (VMO) and other government-approved sources known for their quality and reputation. While we prioritize quality, we do not limit ourselves to a single place of origin—our ingredients may come from various regions.

How are the meal kits packaged and kept fresh?

We take food safety seriously and ensure that all ingredients are packaged properly. Vegetables and meat are packed separately to prevent cross-contamination.
- Some pre-cut vegetables (e.g., winter melon, eggplant) are vacuum-sealed to prevent excess moisture.
- More delicate vegetables that may become soggy or crushed are packaged in food-grade paper boxes or transparent bags to maintain freshness while allowing sufficient space.
- Meat is vacuum-sealed and frozen at -18°C before delivery for optimal food safety.
- For delivery, we use aluminum foil insulated bags with ice packs to maintain a stable temperature.
- For more details, please refer to our freshness guide.

Is there a minimum order amount? How much is delivery?

There’s no minimum spend! But free delivery is available for orders over HK$420. Otherwise, fees apply: HK$60 for home delivery, HK$30 for self-pickup (+HK$10 for remote areas).

When is the order deadline?

We close orders every Tuesday at noon for deliveries scheduled for the following Monday-Saturday. If demand is high or during public holidays, the cut-off may be earlier, so stay updated via our website!

What payment methods do you accept?

You can pay via credit card, bank transfer, FPS, or PayMe. For non-credit card payments, remember to upload your payment proof!

Can I change my selected meal kits, delivery date, or address?

Yes! Simply log into your account and go to the “Manage Subscription” or “My Meal Selection” page to make changes. Please note that only the deliveries that are before deadline can be changed.

I have food allergies or dietary restrictions. Can I exclude certain ingredients?

Absolutely! You can select meals that suit your dietary needs on the meal selection page. However, please be aware that our facility also processes ingredients such as nuts, seafood, dairy, eggs, soy, wheat, peanuts, and shellfish. If you have severe allergies, please evaluate the risks before ordering.

Can I cancel or pause my subscription after purchasing a meal plan?

Yes! Simply log into your account, go to “Manage Subscription,” click the “Delivery Date” edit button, and select “Pause Subscription.”

What if I’m traveling next month and won’t be home to receive my meal kits?

You have two options:
(A) Gift your meal kits to family or friends—just update the delivery details in your account under “Manage Subscription.”
(B) Adjust the delivery dates by logging into “Manage Subscription,” clicking “Delivery Date,” and selecting a new date.

What areas do you deliver to? Are there any extra charges or restrictions for remote areas?

Our delivery service covers Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, New Territories, and some outlying islands. The following areas are considered remote:
- Sai Kung
- Clear Water Bay
- Shek O
- Stanley
- Discovery Bay
- Ma Wan
- South Lantau (including but not limited to Tai O, Tong Fuk, Cheung Sha, Pui O, etc.)
- Mui Wo

A delivery surcharge of HK$10 applies to remote areas, and the delivery time will be next-day arrival (i.e., orders shipped today will be delivered tomorrow).

Your selected delivery date at checkout is the date we dispatch your order. For example, if you wish to receive your meal kit on June 2, please select June 1 as your delivery date when placing your order.

When should I expect my delivery?

Standard home delivery: 3 PM – 9 PM

What if the delivery time doesn’t work for me?

You can leave a note with your preferred delivery time when placing your order. The courier will try to accommodate your request whenever possible.* Alternatively, you may coordinate directly with the courier when they contact you on the delivery day.

Please note that actual delivery times may be affected by factors such as traffic conditions and route planning. We appreciate your understanding!

Can I track my order or get a tracking number?

If your order is shipped via SF Cold Chain Delivery, you can track it using the official SF Express app. Simply register on the app with the same phone number used for your order, and you’ll be able to check your tracking number and the latest delivery status once SF Express picks up the package.

Why does SF Express show my delivery as arriving tomorrow?

SF Express’s system automatically sets the estimated delivery time to 10 PM the next day as a general policy. However, in most cases, our meal kits are delivered on the same day they are picked up.

Do you deliver to Discovery Bay, Ma Wan, or village houses?

Yes, but different locations have different conditions:

- Discovery Bay & Ma Wan: These areas are considered remote, so a HK$10 surcharge applies. Orders will be delivered the next day (i.e., orders shipped today arrive tomorrow). As mentioned earlier, your selected delivery date at checkout is the date we dispatch your order.
- Village houses: This depends on the area. Village houses in Yuen Long and Tai Po are typically not considered remote, and no extra charge applies. However, those in Sai Kung are classified as remote and follow the same conditions as Discovery Bay and Ma Wan.

Will the delivery person contact me before arrival? Can I contact them directly?

In most cases, the courier will contact you before delivery. Please keep an eye out for calls from unknown numbers on your delivery day.

However, we do not have direct contact information for the delivery personnel, so we cannot provide their phone numbers.

What happens if there’s bad weather? Will my delivery still arrive?

In case of Black Rainstorm Warnings or Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above, we will determine the delivery status based on the weather condition at 8 AM on the delivery day:

- If the warning is still in effect at 8 AM, all deliveries scheduled for that day will be postponed by one day.
- If the warning is lifted before 8 AM, deliveries will proceed as usual.

However, please note that some delays may still occur due to transportation disruptions, which are beyond our control. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

What should I do if my meal kit is incorrect or damaged?

If you encounter any issues with your meal kit or ingredients, please take photos as proof and contact us via WhatsApp on the same day of delivery (before midnight). Make sure to provide the following:

(A) A photo of everything you received
(B) A photo of the order slip inside your meal kit
(C) A brief description of the issue

If any of the following applies, we will arrange a replacement:
- Damaged ingredients due to mishandling during delivery
- Spoiled or abnormal food quality
- Incorrect or missing items
- Other concerns or complaints

Please note that all claims must be submitted on the same day with the required photos. Late or incomplete claims may not be processed.

What is the minimum order for free delivery?

Free delivery is available for orders of HK$420 or more (per delivery).

For orders below this amount, the following delivery fees apply:
- Home delivery: HK$60
- Self-pickup: HK$30
- Remote area surcharge: +HK$10*

Do you recycle packaging like insulated bags and ice packs?

Yes! If the insulated bags and ice packs are clean and undamaged, we sanitize and reuse them. We also partner with The Loops for recycling—download their app to participate!

Isn’t plastic packaging bad for the environment?

We take our environmental and social responsibilities seriously. As we provide meals for numerous families, ensuring food safety is of utmost importance. Our company has implemented the following packaging policies:

1) Minimising Plastic Usage
We adhere to the principle of minimal plastic use:
- For vegetables, the packaging method depends on their moisture content. Those with lower moisture levels are packaged in recyclable paper bags.
- For meat products, which are considered high-risk food items, vacuum-sealed packaging is necessary to ensure food safety and hygiene.

2) Use of Recyclable Materials
We are the first meal kit company on Hong Kong's market to use food-grade kraft paper boxes for external packaging. Additionally, our transparent plastic bags are made from recyclable materials. Customers can clean and recycle these bags at designated environmental collection points.

3) Implementation of Eco-Friendly Recycling Policies
Beyond reducing plastic use and simplifying packaging, we have also established recycling areas in our offices and production facilities to sort and recycle waste properly. Our employees receive training on recycling practices, such as the classification of the seven types of plastic and general recycling knowledge, to minimise our environmental impact as much as possible.

4) Sustainable Pre-order Dinner Solution
Furthermore, research has shown that meal kits, which are purchased through a pre-order system, allow producers to determine precise quantities in advance. This enables accurate procurement and significantly reduces overproduction, thereby preventing unnecessary food waste. Estimates suggest that this approach can reduce total food waste by 38%, a feat that traditional supermarkets and wet markets cannot achieve.

Food waste in landfills generates methane, a greenhouse gas 28 times more potent than carbon dioxide over a 100-year period. Globally, one-third of all food produced is wasted before it is even consumed. In Hong Kong alone, 3,255 tonnes of food waste are discarded daily, with overproduction for consumer selection being a major contributing factor.

By offering fresh and delicious ingredients, we also strive to reduce food waste and carbon emissions through our meal kits, contributing to environmental protection and sustainable development for the planet.
